Abstract
The mitochondrial reaction of amethyst violet (a diethylsafranin derivative) as tested on blood cells is specific and selective, and a precise and intense supravital staining can be obtained with concn. as low as 1:200,000 added to a drop of blood. Janus green B is still the best standard supravital stain for mitochondria. Keywords
