Notes on the Life Cycle and Habits of Digamasellus quadrisetus (Mesostigmata: Digamasellidae)

Abstract

Mites of the genus Digamasellus are commonly found under the bark of trees. D. quadrisetus Berlese has been frequently found associated with Ips typographic L. in Europe, and recently with several species of Ips in California. Although it is often encountered in bark beetle galleries, some aspects of its life cycle and feeding habits within the galleries have never been reported.
