Abstract
The neurosecretory system of teleosts and mammals was examined by the periodic acid Schiff (carbohydrates), Millon''s method (histone containing and histone free albumin) and Sudan black (fat) methods. The albumin was digested with trypsin and the fat extracted with hot methanol chloroform. The PAS-positive, Millon-positive and the sudanophile substances show the same localization in the neurosecretory system as the Gomori substances. The reaction applies to parts of the system only. The cells of the nucleus tuberis in the pike show the same histochemical reactions as the Gomori positive parts of the system. The neurosecretion is probably a complex of glycolipoprotein.
