Abstract
We report precise measurements of the density as a function of temperature in the one‐phase region near the consolute point in nitroethane + 3‐methylpentane. We find evidence of the critical anomaly in the thermal expansion, but are not able to determine a unique value for the critical exponent α. We have performed computer experiments to determine under what conditions α could be extracted from thermal expansion data. Keywords
