Abstract
Atomistic calculations of the core structure of four different non screw 1/2(111) dislocations lying on a (112) plane have been made using three different central interatomic forces. The cores of all the dislocations studied have been found to be similar: planar, asymmetrical and spread into three parallel (112) planes. The results are interpreted using differential displacement maps and the concept of a continuous distribution of the Burgers vector, and are discussed in terms of the restoring forces for three layer generalized stacking faults on (122) planes.
