Abstract

The

{}^{26}{Mg} (α, {}^{8}{He}) {}^{22}{Mg}

reaction was reinvestigated at a bombarding energy of 110.6 MeV with a magnetic spectrometer-multiwire proportional counter detection system, leading to an improved value for the mass excess of

{}^{8}{He}

of 31.57±0.03 MeV.
