Inhibition of Phagocytosis by Aureomycin

Abstract
Phagocytosis of Micrococcus pyogenes var. albus cells by polymorphonuclear leucocytes was markedly inhibited by aureomycin in a concn. of 1000 [mu]g./ml. in vitro. This inhibition, although less pronounced, was still significant in concns. of the antibiotic which were considerably lower than the therapeutic blood levels ordinarily employed in clinical practice.
