Abstract
This study presents evidence that the core temperature of the ground squirrel (in December) is less affected by chlorpromazine than is the temperature of the rat. Pretreatment of these species with 3-5-3'-triiodothyroproprionic acid inhibits the chlorpromazine-induced hypothermia. This is most evident in the ground squirrel. This synthetic thyroxine analog may act to protect thermoregulatory centers from chlorpromazine.
