A Rapid Determination of Low Concentrations of Anatase in Rutile TiO2 Pigments by Raman Spectroscopy

Abstract
An accurate Raman spectroscopic procedure has been developed for the quantitative determination of anatase in rutile TiO2 pigments between 0.03 and 10 wt %. Raman spectroscopy offers the advantages of rapidity of measurement and extremely high sensitivity to anatase. Further, this high sensitivity to anatase suggests that this crystal habit would make an ideal internal standard for the quantitative measurement of other inorganic materials.
