The Infra-Red Spectrum of Heavy Water Vapor

Abstract
The vibration-rotation bands ν2 and ν3 in the heavy water vapor (D2O) spectrum have been remeasured. An analysis of the rotational structure has been carried out. From the interpretation of the data the values of the normal frequencies have been determined as well as the values of the reciprocals of inertia effective in these two vibration states. The frequency ν2 is found to be 1178.30 cm1, and the frequency ν3, 2787.23 cm1. For the state ν2 the effective reciprocals of inertia are A(V)=16.60 cm1, B(V)=7.35 cm1, C(V)=4.84 cm1. For the state ν3, A(V)=14.88 cm1, B(V)=7.24 cm1, C(V)=4.84 cm1.
