Abstract
A simplified procedure for the determination of 14C- labeled alkanes in mammalian tissue and blood is proposed. A portion of the ethanolic-KOH digest of the sample is counted in a standard toluene scintillator solution; consequently no secondary scintillator solvent or special tissue solubilizer is required. A wide variety of sample types and sizes, including whole organs, can be handled without homogenization or drying. Accuracy and precision are good. Sensitivity is generally inversely related to sample size. Keywords
