Abstract
The performance of the clamped-mode series-resonant converter is studied for various applications. Prototypes designed for operation below and above resonant frequency and zero-current turn-off or zero-voltage turn-on switching conditions are described. Theoretical characteristics were used for the circuit's design in each operating mode; the corresponding region of operation is defined and verified experimentally. Main sources of loss are identified.
