Abstract
The lifetime of the 3.85-Mev level in C13 has been measured by the Doppler shift attenuation method and has been found to be [Formula: see text] second. This lifetime together with the (9.3 ± 2.0) × 10−3 relative intensity of the E2 branch from this level implies a strength [Formula: see text] in Weisskopf units for this transition. It is also found that the primarily M2 transition to the ground level of C13 has [Formula: see text] and the E1 transition to the 3.68-Mev level has [Formula: see text]. The measured transition strengths are compared with recent theoretical calculations based upon the weak-coupling model. Keywords
