ENZYMIC EXCHANGE OF LEUCINE BETWEEN DIFFERENT COMPONENTS OF LEUCINE ACCEPTOR RNA IN ESCHERICHIA COLI

Abstract
A rapid exchange of leucine between 2 components of leucine acceptor RNA in E. coli occurs in the presence of adenosine-monophosphate (AMP) and amino acyl-sRNA synthetase. Heat inactivation of various amino acyl-sRNA synthetases has a first-order kinetics indicating that only 1 enzyme exists for an amino-acid, making the exchange possible.
