A case of oil of wintergreen (methyl salicylate) poisoning treated by exchange transfusion is reported. This procedure resulted in the rapid removal of a relatively large amount of salicylate and in prompt clinical improvement. The favorable results presented in this report suggest that the use of exchange transfusion deserves further evaluation in this and in other selected types of poisoning in infants and small children.
