Abstract
A solid-phase radioimmunoassay was used to determine the specificity of Ig[immunoglobulin]G antibodies [Ab] from normal sera, and sera and CSF from patients with SSPE [subacute sclerosing panencephalitis] for the structural polypeptides of measles virus. The polypeptide specificity of Ab from these sources were qualitatively similar; antigenic cross-reactivity was indicated between SSPE-derived (Mantooth) and non-SSPE-derived strains of measles virus and stimulation of Ab formation by comparable antigens.
