Abstract
HEMOBILIA, or massive bleeding through the bile ducts into the gastrointestinal tract, is an uncommon occurrence. It has been reported from a variety of causes, most frequently in cases of trauma to the liver.1 , 2 In these cases it is a rare complication, and only 13 cases have been noted3 in the literature since Owen4 first reported it in 1848. Gross or massive bleeding from nontraumatic lesions of the gall bladder, liver or bile ducts is also rare. Twelve authenticated cases have been collected from the literature, and 1 is here reported.
