LXXI Cervical Lymphatic System as Visualized by Lymphography

Abstract
The cannulization of a deep retroauricular lymph vessel with polyethylene tubing under magnification has permitted filling of the deep lateral cervical and supraclavicular nodes with an oily radio-paque agent. On the basis of 100 cervical lymphograms, a normal functional pattern of the cervical nodes and their connections has been demonstrated. Histologic studies revealed the appearance of a foreign-body reaction to the contrast material. Gradual disappearance of the contrast agent was observed in follow-up X-rays between 6 and 12 months.
