Die Synthese Eines Ersten Doppel-Sandwich-Komplexes: Das Dinickeltricyclopentadienyl-Kation

Abstract
Dicyclopentadienylnickel reacts with carbonium ions, e.g. [C(C6H5)3]+ and [C7H7]+, to give the binuclear cation [Ni2(C5H5)3]+ which forms stable salts with tetrafluoroborate and hexafluorophosphate as anions. The chemical properties as well as the n.m.r. data of the ionic compounds indicate that the structure of the cation [Ni2(C5H5)3]+ probably corresponds to that of a double-sandwich complex. The mechanism of formation of the new species will be briefly discussed by assuming an ion-molecule reaction as the final step.
