Abstract
A theoretical background for the induction motor input current variation due to variation in speed is presented and the theoretical result is compared with the experimental observations, when the motor speed is varied by variation of input voltage. A six thyristor balaced ciruit is proposed for speed control and its performance is compared with that of sine wave Variac voltage control. Keywords
