Abstract

Reduction of the hemithioacetal from coenzyme A and (±)-mevaldic acid with (4R)-[4-³H]-NADPH in the presence of 3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl CoA reductase from yeast gives (3R,5S)-[5-³H]-mevalonic acid.
