Pyridoxamine phosphate transaminase

Abstract
Evidence for the enzymic interconversion of pyridoxal phosphate and pyridoxamine phosphate is presented. Magnesium ions activate the conversion of pyridoxamine phosphate into pyridoxal phosphate. The enzyme is present in aqueous extracts of Escherichia coli but not in the 0.8 [image] KCl extracts used in the preparation of tryptophanase. Optimum conditions for enzymic assay have been established.
