The self-induced injuries include effects of biting, bumping, clenching, cutting, excoriating, grinding, injury by chemical, thermal, and other means, licking, picking, pressure, pulling, rubbing, sitting, striking, sucking, and thermophilia. The mode of production and the resultant changes in the skin are described. No attempt is made to explain the underlying psychological factors involved in these aberrations.
