Range-Momentum Relation for Heavy Recoil Ions in Emulsion

Abstract
The range-momentum relationship for Ag and Br ions (β<0.04) in Ilford K.5 nuclear emulsion is given. The measurements were made using the elastic collisions of Ar40, Ne20, and C12 with nuclei of the emulsion. Mass separation between the Ag and Br (heavy) and the C, N, and O (light) recoil groups has been achieved by the method of least squares applied to the kinematics and by the grouping of the events on a range-momentum plot. The empirical range-momentum relationship is found to be
