Abstract
Thirteen samples from depths ranging from 10,280 ft to 13,970 ft in Mangahewa No. 1 well were examined for pollen and spore content. The samples were mud-stones, coals, and carbonaceous shales, siltstones, and sandstones. Paleontological results indicate that the age of the samples ranges from Kaiatan (Upper Eocene) to Waitakian (Lower Oligocene). The results are compared with those from Kapuni No. 1 well, South Taranaki.
