ANNUAL REPORT The Council on Medical Education and Hospitals presents this 30th Annual Report on Internships and Residencies, which consists of statistical data and other information on training programs for interns and residents conducted in hospitals approved by the Council. All hospitals listed are located in the continental United States or in its territories and possessions (the Canal Zone, Hawaii, and Puerto Rico). The report is composed of descriptive material; statistical tables and graphs; information on the National Intern Matching Program, the Internship Review Committee, the revised "Essentials of an Approved Internship," the Residency Review Committees, and the Sears Roebuck Foundation; a brief report on foreign medical school graduates serving internships and residencies in approved hospitals; and the plan for future evaluation of the qualifications of foreign physicians who wish to come to this country for further medical training.
