Abstract
A critical taxonomic treatment of the local spp. and review of the general basis of terminology and classification of the Characeae, written for use of students and for investigators to enable ease in determination. Diagrams illustrating terminology, chart-type plates showing critical characters for each sp., and habit sketches are included. A table includes all known locality records for the 5 spp. of Nitella and 3 of Chara of the region.Keywords
