Behavior of surface-plasma oscillations on grating surfaces

Abstract
The anisotropic properties of surface-plasma oscillations on metal grating surfaces are studied. In particular, the dispersion and inverse lifetime are shown to be functions of the direction of propagation of the surface plasmon with respect to the grating lines for aluminum, silver, copper, and gold surfaces. A theoretical treatment of the surface-plasmon properties on a grating surface is given which is in agreement with the experimental results.
