Abstract
GREAT importance is given to indirect auscultatory blood-pressure measurement for its convenience and value both as an indicator of an underlying disorder and as a predictor of future cardiovascular-renal disease — despite its known lack of precision. Use of the technic in descriptive and experimental studies in large population groups such as those directed from this laboratory imposes greater demands on this clinical tool than those required for adequate evaluation of individual patients in the clinic. Of many sources of variation and error small systematic differences in particular may lead to significant, spurious differences in comparative studies.Bordley et al. . . .Keywords
