The distribution of the fatty acids in halibut intestinal oil, with a note on the presence of free fatty acids in the intestines of fish

Abstract
Halibut intestinal oil was separated into free fatty acids, phosphatides and "neutral" oil, the latter being fractionated in a molecular still. By detailed fatty acid analyses of various products vit. A was shown to be esteri-fied with all the fatty acids present, the amts. of the various esters being proportional to the relative amts. of the acids present in the total extract. This supports the hypothesis that vit. A assists in fat absorption in the halibut. Phosphatides do not appear to do so.
