CYSTIC BLASTOMYCOSIS OF THE CEREBRAL GRAY MATTER

Abstract

The diffuse form of blastomycosis of the central nervous system appears as plastic meningitis which may be combined with cystic infiltration of the gray matter. The central nervous system is involved chiefly, and sometimes apparently primarily, and the causative organisms are found in the meninges and in the cysts. REPORT OF A CASE History. —H. P., a man, aged 39, was under the care of Drs. Charles H. Frazier and William G. Spiller, at the University Hospital from May to July, 1921. On admission he complained of severe paroxysmal headache of one months' duration. The headaches were progressive and were not localized. Projectile vomiting had occurred daily during the week preceding admission. The eyesight had become poor during the preceding two weeks.
