Theory of Normal Paraffin Liquids

Abstract
A hole theory of n‐paraffin liquids, which is the same in mathematical form as Flory's theory of polymer solutions, is developed to derive the relationships between the physical constants and the number of carbon atoms n. If the number of segments in a molecule is equal to n, quantitative agreements between the theory and the observations can be shown for the critical temperature, the critical pressure, the boiling temperature and the heat of vaporization. It is also possible to give theoretical foundations for some empirical rules recently proposed by Grunberg and Varshni.
