A Fossil Wood of Terminalia tomentosa W. & A. from the Tertiary of Burma

Abstract
A fossil wood from the Irrawady System of Burma (Pliocene to Upper Miocene) is described. Anatomically it is indistinguishable from the wood of living Terminalia tomentosa W. & A. and differs from all Terminalioxylon so far reported. The relation of this wood with the ring-porous and diffuse-porous woods is discussed.
