Abstract
The random fluctuations of a signal constitute noise. Their magnitude which depends on the signal statistics may be significant in laser radiation. In this paper the statistics of thermal or incoherent radiation are briefly compared with those from an amplitude stabilized laser and the amplitude probability density of the uncoupled multimodal laser field is derived.Keywords
