Abstract
On fat-deficient diets improved over those previously used, carbohydrate assimilatory R.Q. and glucose tolerance tests indicated a disturbed carbohydrate metabolism after 11-15 mos. on this diet. Tests, with and without insulin and with and without the addition of small amts. of a natural fat to the diet, indicated that this disturbance may be caused by the simultaneous lack of a carbohydrate metabolism factor present in natural fats, and a diminished functioning of insulin. Keywords
