Antigenic Studies of a Sucrose-Fermenting Bacterium

Abstract
Two cultures of anaerogenic, sucrose-fermenting, coliform bacteria were found to have Salmonella antigens VI, VIII: d, (i). By growth in appropriate serums they were changed to VI, VIII; i and VI, VIII: j, (i). These changes were reversible. The VI, VIII: i phase was used for the production of specific i serum for Salmonella typing.
