Abstract
Male albino Slonaker strain rats were exposed to 700 r total body irradiation (factors: 223 kv, 10 ma, 0.5 mm. Cu and 1.0 mm. Al filters). Cytochemical studies were performed at 1, 2, 5, 10, 15 hrs. and 1, 3, 6, 10, 15, 20 days after irradiation. Desoxyribonucleoproteins, ribo-nucleoproteins and alkaline phosphatase contents in esophagus, stomach, small and large intestine were evaluated. It was noticed that the cells of the crypts of the small intestine were the most sensitive to irradition and showed distinctive cytochemical modifications during the destructive and reparative phases. Keywords
