Abstract

The liver contains [alpha] and [beta] carotin. The xanthophyll group contains lutein and zeaxanthin. The skin contains carotin, very little free xanthophyll and as principal component xanthophyll esters. The ovaries contain carotin and xanthophyll as in the skin. The fat body contains all pigments, xanthophyll esters predominating. Ratio of carotin to non-carotins, 1/4.5 and xanthophyll to the hypophasic fraction, 2.3/1.
