Abstract
10 patients with acute maxillary sinusitis were investigated with regard to L-phase organisms before and after 4 days of antibiotic treatment. L-phase organisms were isolated from 1 case before and from 4 cases during treatment. The concentrations of ampicillin, cephalexin and doxycycline in serum and sinus secretions were determined. Although reliable serum concentrations were obtained, ampicillin was found in low concentrations in sinus secretions. Keywords
