Abstract
The uptake of radioactivity was very low when tritium-labelled cortisol or corticosterone was incubated for various lengths of time with corticoid-poor (12 p.m.) blood. The cortisol disposal rate in the erythrocytes did not parallel the cortisol disposal rate in plasma at low hormone levels as it did at higher levels. Neither of these two experiments supports the concept of a specific cortisol-binding agent in the erythrocytes.
