Abstract
Presents a self-consistent two-spin cluster model in which the first- and second-neighbouring pairs are treated exactly, and where there exists a long-range interaction between the clusters. This model reproduces qualitatively the behaviour of the magnetic susceptibility chi (T) of Hg1-xMnxTe alloys (x-1(T) at low T is recovered. Some features of the low-temperature, high-field magnetisation of these alloys are also accounted for; namely, the saturation value and the long-range interaction temperature. However, a semiempiric expression is needed to reproduce the magnetisation curves in these field and temperature ranges. Keywords
