Diffusion of Exchange Energy in SolidHe3+

Abstract

We report a method for determining the rate of diffusion of exchange energy in solid ${\mathrm{He}}^3$. Over the temperature range 0.05-0.12°K, we obtain a temperature-independent diffusion constant $D_E=(0.75\mathrm{}\pm 0.15)J{a}^2$, where $a$ is the nearest-neighbor distance and $J$ the exchange integral.
