Study of Gamma Rays from the Ca43(p,p,γ)Ca43 Reaction and the Decay of K43 and Sc43

Abstract
A study has been made of the γ-ray spectra produced in the proton bombardment of Ca43 at proton energies of 2.550, 3.235, and 3.605 MeV. γ-ray branching ratios and excitation energies were determined for most states in Ca43 previously seen in decay-scheme and reaction studies up to an excitation energy of 2.25 MeV. An examination of the γ-ray spectrum following the radioactive decay of Sc43 shows that the logft value for a transition to a possible 92 state below 1.5 MeV in Ca43 is greater than 5.7. Examination of the decay of K43 shows some discrepancies with previous work.
