To the Editor. —Mycotic infection of the eye due to Fusarium solanii is one of the known causes of severe keratitis and endophthalmitis.1-3 The fate of the eye is threatened by the severity of the infection. I report herein a case of severe Fusarium keratitis and endophthalmitis in an only eye that was saved by major surgery. Report of a Case. —A 46-year-old woman in good health was referred to us because of an acute keratitis and endophthalmitis in her left eye. The right eye was lost 16 years prior because of a severe endophthalmitis complicating a keratitis. No history of trauma was obtained. The patient was in excellent health. The culture of the corneal ulcer disclosed F solani. The cornea melted quickly and on Sept 22,1980, an emergency keratoplasty was performed using a 10-mm diameter of preserved cornea.
