ENVIRONMENTAL STABILITY OF YIELD AND HOLLOW STEM IN BROCCOLI (Brassica oleracea var. Italica)

Abstract
Adaptability and stability of yield, harvest date and incidence of hollow stem were assessed by regression analysis for six broccoli (Brassica oleracea var. Italica) cultivars. Significant cultivar variation for yield and harvest date was found within each year. All characters exhibited significant differences among the years. Cultivar × environment interaction was significant for yield and hollow stem. Most of the cultivars exhibited only average or below average stability and only one, Green Valiant (b = 0.77) was stable and better adapted to unfavorable environments. Similarly, all cultivars but Green Comet (b = 0.10) exhibited average or below-average stability for hollow stem performance.Key words: Broccoli, stability, genotype × environment interaction, yield, hollow stem
