Enhancement of Amphetamine Sulphate Effects by Atropine in a Social Situation

Abstract
4 groups of 10 rats were injected with saline, saline and atropine, saline and amphetamine sulfate, or atropine and amphetamine sulfate. After treatment each rat was observed for 5 minute sessions (30, 60, and 90 minutes post-injection) in a box with a wire barrier separating the experimental rat from 3 stimulus rats. Rats in the atropine-amphetamine group spent significantly more time in barrier-directed behavior than the other 3 groups during the 60 and 90 minute post-injection sessions, and also surpassed the saline and saline-atropine groups during the 30 minute session.
