Tumor-Promoting Activity of Cigarette Tar in Rat Skin Exposed to Irradiation

Abstract
A threefold increase (P=O.OO6) in the number of skin tumors induced by beta irradiation was demonstrated in rats after surface applications of cigarette tar. The effect appeared due to a tumor-promoting activity of the cigarette tar rather than to an additive tumorigenic effect of the two agents.
