Abstract
The historical development of the modern concepts of tetanus and its treatment are outlined in some detail. Current methods of treatment are evaluated in terms of reported results as well as in reference to their pathophysiologic rationale. The use of curare and myanesin is discussed. The review covers the period up to 1952-1953.Keywords
