Abstract
Three fossil Galaxias from diatomaceous shales in Fraser’s Gully, Kaikorai Valley near Dunedin were examined. They are shown to be G. brevipinnis Günther, an extant species, widespread in New Zealand. G. kaikorai Whitley, a name applied to one of the fossils, becomes a junior synonym. Two specimens from similar deposits in the Foulden Hills near Middlemarch are identified as G. vulgaris Stokell ; this species is widespread today in Canterbury and Otago. This publication has 4 references indexed in Scilit:
