Abstract

A new susquiterpene keto alcohol named schizandronol was isolated from the wooden part of S. nigra and a structure was proposed on the basis of chemical and spectral evidences. The carbon-13 NMR spectra of schizandronol and oplodiol were studied. .beta.-Sitosterol, schizandronic acid and oplodiol were also isolated.
